The concept is 'the begetting'. Not a 'thing'. But I take your point in regard to the neuter article. The question is, what 'begetting' is in view and I firmly believe that it is the eternal begetting of the Son that is in view. Then to that 'begetting' is added (from Mary) that which is 'holy'.
