In 1978 I was appointed Professor of Classics and Head of the Department of Classics at Rhodes University, Grahamstown, where I still live. My inaugural lecture was entitled "Evidence for supposing that our Greek text of the gospel of St Mark is translated from Latin, that most of this Latin still survives and that by following the Latin we can recover words and actions of Jesus which have been falsified in the Greek translation". In the following forty years I have found much more evidence and included all found in my "Proof that the gospel of Mark was written in Latin", which is on the internet.
