About

Joe is an owner of Perotech Sciences specializing in ultra clean products and equipment for the advanced industries such as: aerospace, pharmaceutical, micro electronics and lab animal research. He's been married for over 44 years to Karen and has 5 kids and 6 grand kids. He wanted his kids to be "world citizens", and that's what they became; most don't live in his timezone or continent. Joe has been on missions to India, SriLanka, Ghana & Malawi and is active in his Canadian community. Joe drives a Saturn ION but his summer car is a '85 Fiero GT. Don't call at 7:30PM, Joe will be watching Big Bang Theory with his wife!

If Joe could find them he'd probably meet with Liberal Quakers, however he's also a cartoonist, Preterist and "end time" contrarian.

It’s probably best to let you know exactly where this contributor is coming from so here are some of my current major presuppositions.

1 Hermeneutics. Oh, that’s the fancy Seminary word for “how to read a book”. You’ve probably been doing it since you were in the Beavers Reading Group in Grade 2. It’s reading a sentence, paragraph, chapter or a book and asking: Who, What, Why, Where, When, Background, Time and Audience. I’ll be asking about the original audience and how they understood the text, I am continuously saying: It can’t mean it now, what it never meant then!

2 Context. I’ve discovered that for almost anything I want to defend there is a Bible verse that will prove any side of an argument. This I will call “cherry picking” or “proof texting” and should be avoided. I will require of myself to back up at least 10 verses and go forward 10 beyond the original. If the verse still works with the 10 & 10 then we’ll let it stand. So what about “slavery” there’s hundreds of verses that support it or at least tell the reader how to live with in it, whoops. – I wish there was more against – and I’m still looking for one verse with the word “pastor” (singular) in it (Oh well, maybe I’ll go back and check out King James).

3 Honesty. If it’s in the Greek, translate it and then put it in the English. But, what if it doesn’t match with current theology? Put it in anyways.

4 Prophecy. The four major components are: 2nd coming (Parousia), Resurrection, Judgement and Millennium. I once thought these were all in MY future, I now realize they are all in the past.

5 Translation. I bet you have a favourite, me too. Preachers like the ones that prove their points the best and will switch around until they find it. As seekers on a quest we will consider all and not limit ourselves to the ones that prove our point and the above presuppositions the best. My leanings are to the Majority Greek Text and to the NKJV translation, so there!
