Questions about Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve apostles and the betrayer of Jesus

Judas was a common name and is used to refer to several men in the New Testament. It is linguistically equivalent to the names Judah & Jude.

Iscariot is an appellation applied to the Judas who betrayed Jesus; some have interpreted Iscariot to indicate where Judas was from.

Judas Iscariot apparently held some degree of financial responsibility among Jesus' disciples. He betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver.
