Questions about Paul's letter to the church in Colossae.
Colossians is known as one of the captivity epistles as Paul indicates that he is imprisoned at the time of writing (Col 4:18)
Colossians contains some of the highest Christology in the New Testament (e.g. chapter 1:16-20). In it Paul counsels against false doctrines and disobedience.
The similarities between Colossians & Philemon have led some to conclude that they were written at the same time. Those who accept Pauline authorship of Colossians generally hold that it was written either during Paul's first Roman imprisonment (circa AD 60-62); some have suggested the setting is his Caesarean imprisonment (circa 57-59).
Colossae was an inland city in Asia Minor near Laodicea & Hieropolis.
