| Nov 4 at 7:09 | comment | added | Dan Moore | I appreciate the attempts to provide potential solutions which move beyond the metaphorical approach, and particularly the idea that Paul might be referring to formal, public records, as this could align with how the verb is used in 1 Maccabees 10:36 and in some of the other extra-biblical usages which I've seen. Although, I yet contend that reference to an earlier published Gospel fits the context better, unless one is predisposed against an early Gospel for other reasons. Thanks! | |
