Dec 27, 2022 at 9:12 | comment | added | Steve can help♦ | I'd add that those who study the academic field of hermeneutics are also very concerned with authorship, including how external evidence relates to that question and how it may affect the reading of the text. Authorship is a hermeneutical concern, and evidence for authorship can come from a range of sources inside and outside the text.

Mar 27, 2021 at 5:32 | comment | added | Hold To The Rod | @NigelJ thank you for your thoughts and taking the time to consider. I'll take another look at what's on Meta and see if there's something I can add.
Mar 27, 2021 at 5:19 | comment | added | Nigel J | I suppose a question on the Meta site might be appropriate. But my own view is that we either are content to examine scriptural documents by hermeneutics or we are not. Broadening the site parameters, in my experience, does no good at all and only expands the opportunities for adverse influences to operate within it.
Mar 27, 2021 at 4:44 | comment | added | Hold To The Rod | Thanks @NigelJ, not trying to be difficult. Questions like this one have led me to believe that internal & external evidence are in scope. hermeneutics.stackexchange.com/questions/11470/… . I certainly agree though that internal evidence is highly relevant, which includes but is not limited to vocabulary.
Mar 27, 2021 at 4:39 | comment | added | Nigel J | On an hermeneutic site, evidence of authorship is internal, within the document.
