Dec 25, 2019 at 3:26 | comment | added | polcott | @enegue The way that my view seems to differ from almost everyone else is that I consider: "love your neighbour as yourself" as 100% perfectly sufficient with every other law of God as a harmful distraction from this utterly pure ultimate measure.
Dec 24, 2019 at 21:28 | comment | added | enegue | @polcott "love your neighbour as yourself" has been God's focus since the beginning of creation, which was published for the edification of man by means the law given to Moses some three thousand five hundred years ago (Leviticus 19:18).
Dec 23, 2019 at 14:27 | comment | added | polcott | "love your neighbor as yourself" That has been my main focus for at least five years now.
Dec 23, 2019 at 13:56 | comment | added | Nihil Sine Deo | @polcott in the words of Jesus, do this and you shall have eternal life, or love your neighbor as yourself and God will lead you in the path of righteousness.
Dec 23, 2019 at 3:36 | comment | added | polcott | @enegue Although all of the ten commandments seem to be summed up by the two great commandments hardly any of the levitical ordinances seem to be specifically directly included as a necessary and essential aspect of love itself. Galatians 5:14 (NRSV) For the whole law is summed up in a single commandment, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Dec 22, 2019 at 22:17 | comment | added | enegue | @polcott On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (Matthew 22:40, KJV). Your understanding is in conflict with Jesus' words. So, there are no commandments not included in the two.
Dec 22, 2019 at 6:56 | comment | added | polcott | Obedience to the two great commandments and totally ignoring every aspect of every other one that is not in any way summed up in these two. I also add that loving others must focus on empathy so that we give the right kind of love that is needed. So basically other-centered-ness is the key.
Dec 22, 2019 at 6:51 | comment | added | Nihil Sine Deo | What is your idea of repentance?
Dec 22, 2019 at 6:26 | comment | added | polcott | To the very best of my current knowledge human understanding of righteousness (including Paul's) diverges from the real thing, thus my idea of repentance differs from 99.99% of Christians. How can I get God's Holy spirit to sort this out for me and let me know?
Dec 22, 2019 at 4:58 | comment | added | Nihil Sine Deo | Demons will never tell you to repent, and if it’s your own mind telling you to repent, you’re not beyond the point of no return. Repentance is defined as not doing your own thing. ”All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one— to his own way ” Isa 53:6 obedience results in hearing His voice ”If you turn (repent) at my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you” Pro 1:23 and to those that repent God gives His Spirit to guide them. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27 obedience
Dec 22, 2019 at 4:16 | comment | added | polcott | "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion", How done one know that they are hearing his voice instead of their own presumption?
Dec 21, 2019 at 23:56 | comment | added | Nihil Sine Deo | Yes and no. No because if you are still alive you still technically have a chance. Yes because sometimes you can pass the point of no return, actions have consequences. “Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness, where your fathers put me to the test and saw my works for forty years. Therefore I was provoked with that generation, and said, 'They always go astray in their heart; they have not known my ways.' As I swore in my wrath, 'They shall not enter my rest.'"” Heb 3:7-11
Dec 21, 2019 at 20:08 | comment | added | polcott | So it looks like when a person gets to the point of God sending them a powerful delusion they don't stand any chance at all at getting to actual truth and righteousness. God will continue to distort reality to convince them that their delusion is true.
