Where does the “slippery slope” of allegorical interpretations start? The first task is to differentiate between my material and the quoted content. The next task would be to differentiate between the bulleted list and the explanatory text. I'll try a combination of bold and italics. I am using the HTC Flyer, (SWYPE, handwriting recognition, stylus!) which is supposed to be better in content creation than the IPad! I move around lot. I post in the breaks between being mobile. Waiting for the Surface Pro. Hurry up Microsoft! |

Where does the “slippery slope” of allegorical interpretations start? Hi Monica, and sorry about the post. The structure of stackexchange isn't too conducive to detailed posts. The source article is a treasure, containing much more than I've given a taste of. Encourage you to read it! |

What are the differences between Hebrew and Aramaic? If you drive down to Zakho, you' ll be within spitting distance of Dohuk, which is Iraq. In my times we would picnic around Mosul, Nineveh in Arabic. But the real Nineveh is about 80 km away from Mosul. The walls are made of a black basaltic granite, giving the ruins an appearance of a huge alien spaceship. Creepy! The Turkish beer (Ephesus) we carried couldnt give us enough courage to enter! Had no problems wandering around Eden, though, where the two rivers joined. |

Was it Jesus' flight to or return from Egypt that fulfilled Hosea 11:1? Covenanted! As in you got a deal. BTW, Give my regards to the USCWM! |

In what sense would Nathanael have “seen” in John 1:51? Thank the contribution of scholars before me (not claiming I am a scholar  ) who must be in turn thanking the ultimate Root! |

In what sense would Nathanael have “seen” in John 1:51? There was a message that I had exceeded the 20 minute limit for editing comments. I had intended to add one more line to my previous comment. I was forced to post back to back above. I will add a summary to my post in outline form. |

In what sense would Nathanael have “seen” in John 1:51? The time to edit passed. This is what I added: had I said Jesus promised to reconcile Man with God, while conveying the gist of his remark, would have been a bit cryptic, I think. |

In what sense would Nathanael have “seen” in John 1:51? Hi Jon, I realise that Biblical Hermeneutics limits itself to exploration of the original text and the meaning of the text itself. That means it is almost a given that a huge amount of pre-understanding must be laid out for a modern reader to see the meaning the same way a 1st Century reader did. |
