comment Who is Wisdom in Proverbs
thought for answer-ers - isn't the word wisdom in hebrew feminine in gender?

comment Was 'σκύβαλον' (skubalon) profanity?
@swasheck - If i'm not mistaken this term is a hapax legomina, so exactly, contemporaries to Paul as well as context will be needed. Its been a while, but my last look into this revealed that the word was used typically in a derogatory sense. Perhaps another matter that someone could take up would be what other options did Paul/God have to use in penning this concept, and choosing this word.

comment Are we to consider texts such as Song of Songs 2:3 to be euphemistically sexual?
+1 for a well thought out reply. I'd like to see an answer that takes up the contrary before i dole out a "check." I fear there is a bit of circularity to the reasoning of this argument however - "The bible doesn't include under bed sheet language, therefore this can't be a euphemism for under the bed sheets." We could equally say that the Bible doesn't include references to bodily functions, therefore the euphemisms of Eglon, Saul in the Cave and Baal being indisposed are not references. It doesn't follow. Certainly some trees are tree, and apples-apples...

comment What's the relationship between 1 Peter 4:1 and Ephesians 6:11
Same metaphor? Its certainly not the same metaphor, however, I believe that the same purpose could be argued. Eph. 6 speaks to the standing in the midst of the struggle of this dark world (vs 12). I Peter 3-4 concerns itself with overcoming sin in the midst of persecution. The context of both is reasonably comparable. The metaphor, for sake of comparison of relationship of the texts is superfluous, as it simply stands to the emphasize the need.

UGH, while i completely understand the thought here, and agree that it does need to be trimmed, you have no idea how hard it was to trim things down to this point, much less more. I'll make the attempt.

Welcome to the community from a fellow newcomer! I hope that my response is helpful, feel free to comment and I'll attempt to add/edit as needed. Perhaps an addition of a "armor-of-God" tag?
