If you have a question that's not addressed by the Wikipedia article or if you have a question that's prompted by the article, please spell it out. As @MonicaCellio indicated, it's not easy to provide an answer to a question this broad and undefined. (See also the other two questions with the new-world-translation tag.)
3h	comment	What are the “shields of the earth”? Hi Robert and welcome to the site. As I mentioned to another user, I'm not a professional scholar either. But on this site we all do our best to be as expert on the topic as possible. One way we do that is to peer review answers. In this case, I'd like to see a little more support for the idea that Elohim is always (or at least often) used in relation to non-Jews and some sort of argument to back up the idea that the phrase is about the Church. Paul's writing is rather more voluminous than Jesus' brothers' short letters. I'm going to edit the question to narrow the scope to those letters, but I hope you will still be able to use this answer with minor edits.

It also doesn't directly address the textual issue, which involves the odd coincidence of the same word being applied to the woman who rescued the Israelite spies and some sort of sea creature. Perhaps you could source your information?
