comment What is the framework for the structure of the Sermon on the Mount?
Thanks for the article. Anderson does a good summary and critique of Bornkamm's theory. The primary issue I have however is that Anderson's hypothesis assumes a post 70 AD date for Matthew. A common view, but to make his hypothesis feasible, you would need to assume that the Sermon on the Mount was an arrangement of some sayings of Jesus Christ, structured by Matthew, as opposed to a sermon of Jesus Christ's recalled by Matthew.

comment Did English-language translations describe Adam and Eve as eating apples?
As a side note, I notice that the tree of Song of Songs is called "apple" in most Bibles, except the NEB and the HCSB which render it "apricot". I would like to start spreading the falsehood that Adam and Eve ate an apricot.

comment Is verse 114 of the Gospel of Thomas a later addition?
Not that I am aware of. The other bit which can be confusing (well for me, anyway) is that there is a Coptic Gospel of the Egyptians (found at Nag Hammadi) which is nothing at all like the Greek gospel.

comment Acts 20:28 variants, what are the six variants?
I don't think it's better - it's just different. According to their website: "the selection of passages for the apparatus has undergone considerable revision. The evaluations of all sets of variants cited in the apparatus have been reconsidered."

comment Acts 20:28 variants, what are the six variants?
As a side note, I would be interested to know whether UBS4 has all of those readings. My understanding is that the critical apparatus underwent a considerable revision in the fourth edition.
