Your answer makes sense. I guess Jerusalem should be counted as the northern part of the country then in this case.

@JonEricson Yeah! I know that it's not uncommon. But that answer challenges my view of the scripture. And I'm not sure I want to go where such an answer leads me ;-) But that of course is a much bigger discussion which is beyond the scope of this question!

Yet this is what my first quote says: "Joshua defeated the whole land[...] He left no survivors. He annihilated everything that breathed". Or is it something from your answer I don't understand (English is not my native language)? How to harmonize the two accounts?

It wouldn't be right to +1 for "5 Timothy 127:33", would it? ;-)

Gave my appending discussion on F. F. Bruce commentary a little background.

I'm a little bit picky. But the first picture really looks like a religious one. So the only thing it is proving is that there is artists that have painted Jesus as literary the gate to the sheep. From the other one I can't say anything about the door. You are probably right, especially when @Caleb has seen this in modern days. But I will continue my quest a little bit farther. Anyway +1 :-)

Ok. If it's done today, it seems plausible that it was done in the history. But we'll see if someone can verify that. Thanks for your comment!
