comment How would stoning of an adulterer actually be carried out under the Law of Moses?
Monica, the question isn't about cases that got to court: Jim thinks that ad hoc executions "are done by mob justice and hence extra judicial" so "Those who did it are actually committing murder". I don't think this is necessarily the case, quite unlike justice in the modern western world at least.

@Jim What do you mean 'sinners'? Have a read of this for an example and flavour of what I mean.

@Jim I think you are confusing modern-day justice with the 1st century which was much more like what we would call vigilantism or vendetta retribution. It was indeed up to fellow citizens to kill citizens.

comment Were the Nephilim in Genesis 6 aliens?
Hi John, thanks for this and your other recent contributions. Can I ask you to see if you can make use of some formatting within a long answer like this? A clearly marked conclusion section (or a tl;dr at the top) can also be very helpful…

comment What are the evidences that Luke is written after/before the fall of Jerusalem?
You are considerably more definite about the date of Mark's Gospel than others, and I think this is perhaps because you aren't allowing for the apocalyptic genre of Mark 13 and the double prophecy it intertwines. This is a prophetic idiom continued from the Hebrew Bible.

The internal attribution of Luke/Acts is not completely absent: The "we" passages in Acts, where the first person plural is used, point to the author being a companion of Paul
