comment What do we know about Paul's family?
Just to add my 2p worth, this is a good answer and interesting material, and quoting sources is not only fine but actively encouraged. It is helpful to indicate which parts are quotations and to attribute them though.

comment What significance does John perceive in the piercing of Christ's side and the flow of blood and water?
This is hard for me to follow, but not impossible, and I appreciate the effort you've gone to, to try and communicate your method. It will be difficult for you to explain this kind of thinking on this site as I think it will be unfamiliar to many. If I might venture a couple of suggestions: a) aim for clarity and conciseness (perhaps more background reasoning to footnotes) b) make careful use of markdown formatting to help structure your posts (you've done that to a degree here but not to the extent of (for example) Matthew's post on this question which uses formatting very well.

comment In Heb 6:4, What does it mean to “again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame”
@user2479 you are conflating the terms 'Christian' and 'saved' if your two comments are linked: yes the 'elect' and the 'saved' are the same group, but 'saved' and 'Christians' are not (neither, apparently, are 'saved' and 'those who have ever "been made partakers of the Holy Spirit", but I'm not sure that should really be surprising given examples such as Saul)

@user2479 are you sure you understand Calvinism's take on election? Many Calvinists, myself included, believe that a Christian can fall away: it is the 'elect' that don't. Anyway, thanks Don, and +1 :)

Great stuff. For some reason this post makes me think of the duck billed platypus for (hopefully) obvious reasons :)

comment Why is Isaiah 14:12-15 interpreted by some to refer to Satan?
@J.C.Salomon Christians believe that the satan is an agent provocateur but is thereby doing what God commanded him to, and “fallen” or “rebellious”. I'm not really sure there is so much difference except a greater degree of personification and more general mention/emphasis: mainstream Christianity isn't dualist, allowing a satan that acts independently of God's ultimate authority.
