yes, things are a little different in these parts of the SE neighborhood, notably that we require a lot more from answers than many other sites (with the possible exception of Skeptics.SE). We want folks to approach answering like math homework (show your work, don't just give us answers/assertions) combined with writing for school (cite sources, develop ideas fully, write clearly, spell everything out). It can take a little getting used to.
