comment How is 2 Maccabees 12:40-46 to be understood?
"Can we pray for the dead?" would be out of scope in my opinion because it would be applying the text to modern practice. Observing/describing that some do practice it today is fine, prescribing it to readers is best saved for C.SE, not here.

We do not officially teach that there is any 'second chance' or postmortem repentance, but we hold out hope for it. Check out my answer here and also this one where I've elaborated on this before if you're interested.

We (I am Eastern Orthodox) do not believe in purgatory, but we do have a concept of a purgative experience after death for some. It would be hard to explain it all in comments.

This is not the place to refute or support the theology of one text on the basis of others - but we can explain the meaning of the text in its context. Hence my edit.

Whilst this may theoretically answer the question, it would be preferable to include the essential parts of the answer here (summarize the relevant portions of the resource that answer this question), and provide the link for reference.

Please cite a specific translation as various versions don't always line up. See this explanation of why this is important that gives examples of what we're looking for.

But that's your call. You could still attract up votes despite the question being closed.

comment Does Paul of Tarsus quote Talmud?
I would probably just cite a source for the date of the Talmud's composition for now unless it is reopened. If the OP edits this to say Hebrew Scriptures it could be reopened. The user logged in not long ago so s/he may.

comment Does Paul of Tarsus quote Talmud?
The Talmud wasn't written until at least 100-150 years after Paul wrote his letters. And parts of it weren't finished until close to 450 years later. This question is unanswerable and shows no initial research effort.

Please give sources for who are making these claims. Saying, "somebody said...", "most think..." means nothing without any examples of anyone who actually think that.
