comment What is the difference between St Thomas Aquinas and Abbot Suger's interpretation of the term “anagogic”?
@user4404 also keep in mind that in addition to marking this as accepted, you can upvote the answer as 'helpful' (as I have, good stuff user2479).

comment Who wrote the end of Deuteronomy?
it's better, but it still doesn't tell us which commentators, i.e. we can't see the work of the source itself. But I also recognize that may not be available to you, at least now readers can evaluate the source for themselves, and can see that it only reflects scholarship up until the 19th century. You still don't defend why the best answer is from Deut. 31:24, you just assert it (the text doesn't say Joshua wrote this so please connect the dots more. Are there linguistic similarities between the end of Deut. and Joshua? Any other external evidence?)

Welcome to Biblical Hermeneutics Stack Exchange! Be sure to take our site tour to learn more about us. We're a little different from other sites. This is a great question! However, it's already been asked here before. The good news is that you don't have to wait for answers! You can head over to the existing question and read them now :)

comment Who wrote the end of Deuteronomy?
"Modern critical scholarship...", "Some commentators..." -- who? These assertions mean nothing without citations of specific scholars, which is what we're looking for here. Show your work: support any and all assertions. The Joshua argument is a good one as it can be made from the text, but even so, do any experts agree with this argument? Cite them.

comment In 1 John 3:6, is “keeps on sinning” a good translation of ἁμαρτάνει?
This is where the joys of Koine Greek linguistics come into play, notably aspect vs. time. More later if I have time (no pun intended)! :)

comment “Adultery in your heart” verse
Welcome to Biblical Hermeneutics Stack Exchange! Be sure to take our site tour to learn more about us. We're a little different from other sites. Please don't "preach" at readers. Instead, describe your perspective without prescribing it. We're looking for lectures rather than sermons. Please keep in mind that not all of your readers here are Christians.

comment What does it mean when it says,“There is a sin unto death”
this is actually a duplicate, and you apparently knew this as you copied and pasted your answer from there to here. In the future, please VTC and don't answer questions you know to be duplicates (in this case you could comment linking to your answer there). I say this because I was about to merge these so your answer would appear there, only to discover it is already there.

comment Are the Rabbinic rules of hand washing before eating bread related to their ruling that the scriptures were unclean?
As per the comments here from 2012 which indicate this is actually a question better suited for MY.SE, I've closed this.

comment not wishing that “any” should perish from 2 Peter 3:9
Welcome to Biblical Hermeneutics Stack Exchange! Be sure to take our site tour to learn more about us. We're a little different from other sites. Be sure to properly cite the text you're asking about. The chapter and verse numbers do not always line up between the Hebrew, Greek, and English texts. I added the specific text here, feel free to change it if you prefer another English translation.

These types of questions are off topic as per this meta discussion (since it has been clarified that this question is about 'occurrence of a grammatical construct. Not the meaning or possibility of a meaning...').

comment How many common hermeneutical approaches are there and how do they differ?
Going through old posts (all posts not tagged with any specific book of the Bible, to be precise), and this seems to be a list question. I'd close as too broad but wanted to let you handle it. Especially since you were thinking of deleting it at one time. I'd just close, not delete, though (so Bob's answer remains) - but your call.

I tagged this with the book of Romans and footnoted the Spanish language portion as we deal with translation from the original Biblical languages only into English.

comment What external evidence do we have for who wrote the Gospel of John?
my apologies for originally closing this. We already have a question asking for internal evidence of authorship of John's gospel.. So what I've done is focus this on the external evidence to avoid overlap/duplication. For internal evidence, be sure to see the other question.
