Why did Paul collect and deliver an offering for the Jerusalem church? @MatthewMiller please know that it's not just you. if you dont think that the answer contributes then you dont have to +1. i've just lost the target for the site, i guess. |

Why did Paul collect and deliver an offering for the Jerusalem church? then ok, but please don't accuse me of wild speculation when you've already established quite the pattern of stump-the-chumps sort of questions that are designed for speculation. |

Why did Paul collect and deliver an offering for the Jerusalem church? @MatthewMiller this will be my last comment here. I find it laughable that you choose to pick on specific words that I've used, and yet you race off into some sort of wild, typological explanation. You also upvoted an answer that is only tangentially-connected inasmuch as it is Paul who wrote it. I only said "it is not inconceivable" because there is no way to know for sure. As I said in my answer, this kind of question leads to all the wrong kinds of speculation. But if you want to deny historical documentation of famines |

Why did Paul collect and deliver an offering for the Jerusalem church? @MatthewMiller I am still curious, though, as to whether or not you think that there is an answer that reaches beyond what Paul states. It seems to me like you've upvoted a question that is even more speculative than this one. I'm not asking you to accept mine, I'm just asking you to rethink the bias that you've brought to any possible answer. |

Why did Paul collect and deliver an offering for the Jerusalem church? Ok that's fair. I guess I was just supplementing the answers that were already rooted in Pauline literature. It's less about speculation and more about using historical context. |

Why did Paul collect and deliver an offering for the Jerusalem church? Thanks for the feedback. Is there a place where you believe I speculate too much, over against the natural speculation inherent to the question itself? |

Why did Paul collect and deliver an offering for the Jerusalem church? I like your answer if you just remove that last paragraph/sentence. I agree with it, but do not necessarily find it compelling evidence to support the initial proposition. |

How should ἐκκλησίαις be translated in 1 Corinthians 14:34? for all the heat this question has generated, i'm just glad that nobody committed the etymological fallacy of digging too far into calling them "called out ones." |

How should ἐκκλησίαις be translated in 1 Corinthians 14:34? I agree with you until the example. I agree that it's either for clarity or emphasis, but nothing suggests that Paul is choosing to focus on the specific Corinthian church(es). |

Has the meaning of “Love” changed enough to warrant substitutions in Bible translations? @Caleb ... thanks for the edit |

Genesis 23 — Why does the Bible change the spelling of Ephron's name? So you're saying that it's a literary device ... we'll call it, "irony." |

Genesis 23 — Why does the Bible change the spelling of Ephron's name? I echo @FrankLuke's comment. I was wondering, though, if you could help us understand the implications of your source and bring it to bear on the question itself? Thanks! I look forward to hearing more from you. |

What is the status of the Law in the Messianic Age? I second the comment by @MonicaCellio. Thank you for your contribution. I understand that the question lends itself to a more "theological" interpretation, and I'm sorry that you were downvoted by people who probably simply disagree with you. As a representative of the group to which I suspect those people belong, I apologize for that. I look forward to your contribution in future questions that hopefully set you up for a better overall experience. |

Comma? “Verily I say unto thee today, …” or “Verily I say unto thee, today…” I'm still a bit unsure with this question. We could randomly toss commas everywhere and change meanings. Ultimately though, this question is rooted in theological implication of such behavior. It certainly toes the line of on-topicness for this site. |

What was Noah thinking when he sent a raven from the ark? When asking about symbolism you're toeing the line between theology and hermeneutics. Symbolism will invite greater subjectivity (which is acceptable to a certain degree) that may not comport well with either your base question (title) or the sites objectives. |
