answered What is Luke's purpose for recording this narrative and ultimately Jesus' reason to express this account of the rich man and Lazarus to those present?

I'd like to see a citation before I upvote this, but I find it fascinating and a compelling addition to the conversation. Please cite this and reply to my comment and I'll come back with an upvote.

comment What is the literary funciton of Acts 1:15-26?
literarily it confirms Peter's reinstatement as a disciple and also serves to bring him to the foreground of the narrative of Acts 2-12.

comment What do pronouns “their” in Mark 9:43-48 refer to?
I mean that it doesn't exist in the UBS or NA Greek texts. the verse number is simply omitted, most likely due to the fact that these are not in the original text (specifically the phrase, "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."). I don't have my UBS apparatus handy or we could step through the TC on this. In summary, the only answer one could give you would be a basic overview of the function of pronouns in Greek (and English) (e.g. resumptive, relative, subject, etc).

good to know. so are you more interested in knowing about the greek usage of a pronoun, or the usage of the pronoun in this text (which doesn't exist most of the texts and has been omitted by modern english translations)?

I'm curious as to which version you're citing. It appears to be KJV (which has its own set of exegetical issues).

comment What is the context in Mark and Luke as regards the buying and preparing of the spices?
I find this to be resolved if Luke's phrase is taken as an authorial insertion to describe to the reader as to why they returned to do this activity.
