I am a scripting language connoisseur, regular expression aficionado, network geek, general lover of Linux and a frequent contributor to open source software. I transitioned to programming from other work because I was too busy automating my own work environment to actually do the other work. I have a hobby interest in cartography. For more see my personal site. Most importantly, my life is defined by the grace of God given to men through Jesus Christ. It is my ambition that everything I do would reflect His glory and point people towards Him.

Does Gen 1:1 refer to day 1 or the entire 6 days of creation? @JonEricson: Doesn't that reading of Gen 1:1 kind of go hand in hand with the premises behind the "framework" view of the creation story? |

Does Gen 1:1 refer to day 1 or the entire 6 days of creation? "Day 1" makes a refreshingly different issue to probe over the endless debate on the meaning of "1 day". |

New American Standard Bible vs English Standard Version: Which one's more faithful to the original text? SE sites are not a good format to continue the discussions which rage everywhere else on the net about which translation is "better". If you have very specific questions about a translation issue you could ask here about how that issue relates to the issues in the original text or you could ask over on Christianity.SE about the general history and philosophies involved in these translations and how different Christian traditions have approached them. However as it stands I think this question falls into the realm of Not Constructive or Off Topic. |

Did Job believe in an afterlife where wrongs could be righted? In order to make this make any sense I think you would have to include an overview of how you understand the text of Job as a whole. Is the purpose of the text to tell us about Job's inspired understanding of the world and an afterlife -- and is it supposed to be prescriptive for us to believe like him; or is it a record of his struggles based on his limited understandings to help us understand that we don't have the big picture and keep us listening for God's corrections (as God does speak up at the end of the text and set him straight on a few points). |

What is “Regula Fidei”? You only deserve +.5 for laying a foundation but not actually dealing with the my main concern about how Regula Fidei should be applied to our practice of hermeneutics, but I gave you the other half for relating this to three solas but linking to the Catholic Encyclopedia. |

Does 2 Corinthians 9:6 indicate a reaping of earthly wealth? So could I. Not usually what I go to a commentary for but I wouldn't be surprised to find it in most. I think most what I notice here is that it's more doctrine than it is hermeneutics. There is no discussion of the text, it's context, the audience, similar sayings or other considerations, it skips straight to pulling a couple of phrases and running with them. Mind you I think it's a good answer, however with this being the accepted answer without waiting for other angles I think perhaps the questioner would have been more at home on C.SE. |

Does 2 Corinthians 9:6 indicate a reaping of earthly wealth? Don't you kind of stray kind of far into doctrine land here? (Maybe this question need re-framing a little?) |

How should John 1 be interpreted? Actually the entire book of John reads quite differently than the other three gospel accounts. It's stated purpose is also different. When you say "contrasts with the rest of the book" are you talking about differences between John 1 and John 2-21 or to the rest of the Bible? Can you cite some specific differences that raise this question? |
