Are the Psalms intended to be didactic? Thanks for the answer. I definitely see how, for instance, Psalm 1 is didactic. I think you're answering my question (I've already given you my +1), but I've tried to amend my question a bit to clarify what's still fuzzy to me. |

What are the differences between allegorical and typological interpretation? Thanks for the answer. Why is Jonah's being three days in the belly of the whale a type and not an allegory for Christ's three days in the tomb? (Or maybe it is both?) |

How does Jesus' argument from David and the show bread work? I'm not sure I see how this addresses the issue. The disciples in Mark 2:23 aren't on the verge of starving or anything; they're simply out for a Sabbath stroll and picking grains. I'll have to think on this some more. |

How should James 2:18 be translated? Related: Who is speaking in James 2:18? |

Why is David's throne established by so much deceit? Thanks for the ideas. I was thinking more along theological purposes, so I wasn't anticipating political purposes; but those are also worth consideration. |

Are women really saved by childbearing according to 1 Timothy 2:15? Thanks for adding this answer, Bruce. |

Twenty plus twenty-five plus fifteen in Ezekiel 45:12 @Ray, I was thinking they would have only one of each weight. Maybe similar to this puzzle. |

Are there scriptural warrants for using the rule of first mention? @BobJones - I'm not disputing the claim that all Scripture speaks of Jesus, I'm disputing how all Scripture speaks of him. Here's a different example: Jesus says John is Elijah. (Matthew 17:10-13) John says he's not Elijah (John 1:21). They're both right because Elijah is a type for John (in which case John is Elijah), and Elijah is a type for Christ (in which case John is not Elijah). Also, the gospels never record the woman removing Jesus' shoes. |

Twenty plus twenty-five plus fifteen in Ezekiel 45:12 Interested to see if other people have ideas; I might guess 15, 20, and 25 were standard weights in a normal set (like, four quarters shall be your dollar). But the ending of Ezekiel is very confusing to me. |

What is meant by “Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire”? @Kazark - Certainly death is portrayed as a defeated enemy, one who is vanquished. But I'm not so sure how neatly everything is sealed off as you say. Rev. 14:10-11 suggests to me otherwise. I'll have to think about it, though. |

Who/what are the two witnesses in Revelation 11? I was reading the Zechariah passage the other day and realized that chapter 4 provided the background for this passage in Revelation (verse 14 caught my attention). Still not sure what to make of that, though, since Joshua and Zerubbabel are themselves symbols. |

How can we understand “another gospel” in its historical context? @Ray I'm not sure if this gets at what you're asking. And I've purposefully left vague the term "observing the law", which might be the heart of what you're wanting to understand. Also, I did not draw out parallels/differences between this false gospel and the "social gospel" and "prosperity gospel" since you didn't ask for that. I'll be glad to amend what I've written if you had in mind a different contour for what an answer would look like. |

Was Jesus anointed once or twice on the feet with perfume? It's a good argument; however, it still leaves the work of reconciling Luke's account. Also, one could read it as John distinguishing between Mary's - i.e. this Mary, who poured perfume unlike the other Mary. |

What does “more than conquerors” mean in Romans 8:37? @Kazark I've been wondering lately whether there is a connection to the whole of Psalm 44 (from 8:36). They had victory of the sword, now they're plundered; but they're righteous, so how can Psalm 1 be true (i.e. the righteous prosper)? Romans 8 answers that question promising to the righteous glory in suffering incomparably greater than victory of the sword. |

Why does Paul get annoyed with the slave girl in Acts 16? It's interesting that the NIV, NET, ESV, NASB and KJV all have the definite article here, esp. since it is present in the Greek seemingly everywhere else (e.g. 9:2 or 18:25) but not here. |
