The birthdate I entered is farcical, as I prefer not to identify myself in any way publicly online, but the age is in the ballpark.

comment Is there any scriptural warrant for the literalist approach to scripture?
Perhaps the months of silence without an answer to this question is a bad sign for the literalist position...

comment Why did John take Mary, who was married, into his home?
@Ryan I see what you're saying, but what does it mean when it talks about Jesus' brothers, then? That they were his cousins? (What we would call cousins are called brothers in some cultures.) Or might it be that John was closer to Jesus than his brothers (they come off as jerks sometimes), and so he would rather entrust his mother to John's care?

comment What translation best translates the word “vanity” (in the KJV) in Ecclesiastes?
Yes, I mean the Hebrew. I don't believe it is linguistically accurate to claim that a word carries all its meanings or even connotations of all its meanings in all contexts.

comment What translation best translates the word “vanity” (in the KJV) in Ecclesiastes?
I'm not sure it's linguistically sound to confute the definitions of vanity. That is, I do not believe that the concern for appearance definition informs the meaningless definition. Also you don't give evidence from the original language for your take on how the passage should be translated.

comment What is the third heaven that Paul mentions in 2 Corinthians 12:2?
I've looked at both references twice and I'm still not sure what subset of those passages you are referring to. Would you mind adding quotations from them to your answer?
