comment How should ἱλαστήριον (hilasterion) be translated in Romans 3:25?
I've been told that "mercy seat" is a term which can be traced to Luther's German translation, and that is was more of a paraphrase than a translation. I don't have sources for this tho, sorry.

comment Who subjected the creation to futility in Rom. 8:20-21?
+1. While Soldarnal's answer is theologically correct, your answer is more exegetically precise: this is the divine passive.

+1 Good question. But no, definitely not rhetorical flourish—read the rest of Romans!

comment Arguments for early/late date of authorship of Daniel
The argument style of Porphyry, which would evidence its late date to an unbeliever, furthers the glory of God in the heart of a believer at the detailed accuracy of the prophecy.

comment What are the arguments in favor of Markan priority?
+1 From the number, length, thoroughness and detail of your answers, besides your longstanding rank, I'd be tempted to say your middle name is Skeet.

comment Is there a modern English translation of the Bible that uses the second-person plural pronoun?
My father, who is a linguist, claims that the theologians overwork the importance of the number of the second person pronoun. The community/individual dialectic is certainly a critical one in Scripture, but it is easy to go to far in studying it in the details of the pronouns.

comment How should the story of David's concubines be read?
I'm arguing that as it was a case law, an example situation, it should be applied here, even though it was not a divorce case, particularly since this was a form of incest.
