Τὸν τέλος μου γινώσκων τὸν Θεόν ἐστίν. —Καζάρξ
Cor meum tibi offero, Domine, prompte et sincere. —Jean Cauvin
For how great is his goodness, and how great his beauty! —Zechariah 9:17 (ESV)
The birthdate I entered is farcical, as I prefer not to identify myself in any way publicly online, but the age is in the ballpark.

Meaning of στοιχεῖον (stoicheion) It is not linguistically defensible to carry connotations across senses of words without outside evidence for doing so. For example, if I get fired from my job, I do not expect you to picture an ejection from a rifle or a flame. It just means I lost my job. If you were to say I was implying that my boss had lost his cool or that I had been physically ejected in some form, I might reply that I was not meaning to imply that at all! Nevertheless, this is an detailed, excellent answer. +1 (and may accept in the future depending on how many others join the conversation) |

What restrictions would Paul have been preaching against in Colossians 2? I recommend Douglas Moo's discussion of the Colossians heresy in his commentary. |

Does Paul reject the idea of celebrating holidays in Galatians? In addition, I would note that in the book of Esther we have an example of a civil holiday being instituted which Jesus then participated in during his earthly ministry (John 10:22-23). |

Does Paul reject the idea of celebrating holidays in Galatians? It is impossible to translate without interpreting the text. To pretend to do so will fail, and will inevitably result in a bad translation. |

Does Paul reject the idea of celebrating holidays in Galatians? He was not rejecting Jewish holidays? Would you expand upon that further? |

Translation of “ἐλπίς” Quoted so many lexicons! I didn't even know that all of those existed. That's helpful in itself. |

Translation of “οἰκονομίαν” This is a helpful answer. Not sure why I didn't accept it earlier, when I upvoted it (sorry). Accepted now. |
