Hi, I'm Anonymous. Welcome to my profile!

I am a jack-of-all-trades and a master of none. I wish I can be an expert in at least one field, though. In any case, I know I can safely say that I am an amateur -- that is, a person who does something because he or she likes doing it.

comment Why was Barnabas singled out for mention in Acts 4?
@BradWerth The other explanation is that language changes.

@BradWerth Yeah, but it's still labelled as "tithing".

@Wikis Nowadays, the word "tithing" no longer means 10% of the income. It means any donation to the church. But then, we're talking about earlier times, which may have been different. So, I would say gives.

So, it highlights a contrast between a man of God (one who tithes) and Ananias (one who keeps for himself and lies).

comment To what does the time clause connect in Revelation 13:8?
@Daи Well, if you check out the link, you would see that it has the Greek transliteration underneath the English words. Click on those transliterations, and you can see the Greek words. Now, copy each Greek word to this comment, and that's what I mean by "piecing together".

@Daи No, I just used the source. Did you click on the link? It has the Greek transliteration. I just copied the original Greek up there.

After rereading the question's description, it is unclear why you put Maimonides there. Does Maimonides believe that the said biblical verses are referring to King David or Messiah, or does Maimonides believe that those verses have double meaning?

But Rabbi Moses ben Maimon is a medieval Jewish rabbi and philosopher. The New International Version is from the 20th century. There may be differences in bibles in that the chapters and verses may be labelled differently or books are or are not part of the canon. I think it's best to retrieve the exact quote from Maimonides.

Since you are using the New International Version, do you expect the answer to be from a Jewish perspective or a Christian perspective?

comment What is the significance of the author of Genesis using two different designations for God?
I'd think that Yahweh refers to the tetragrammaton YHWH, while Elohim refers to the title. Names usually have meaning. YHWH means "I am that I am", the god's name which is telling of his own character, whereas Elohim means "Lord" or "God".
