Also, you're right, "only Christ" doesn't necessarily invalidate other prophets. Regarding Luke 16:16, I believe Jesus is referring to the two textual canons (the Law and the Prophets), not the concept of prophets. Again, however, I don't necessarily disagree...I suppose it would come down to how we define prophets (and the activity of the Spirit) in today's world.

Monica, I changed "Christ" to "Messiah" to avoid the Jewish/Christian confusion (although I suppose there's also a Messiah/messiah question...hm). I don't have a source handy, but I'll try to find one. I was consistently taught that Rabbinic teachers (including Paul) allowed for multiple-fulfillment.
