What does Hebrews 6:4-6 mean? As a side thought, How much doctrine should we allow? is still a pretty open question. |

What were the Corinthians doing when they “baptized on behalf of the dead”? A small little reference and yet so many people have based entire beliefs around this verse. +1 for a question that I'm surprised hasn't already been asked. |

Does the NT concept of grace exist in the OT? Well, Wikipedia shows examples of grace in regards to doctrine. I'm thinking that you should add specific NT passages where grace is not equated to favor--some NT passages to illustrate the NT concept of grace. |

Did Jonah expect to die when he was thrown overboard? @JonEricson Possibly so. That would make a good followup question... |

Did Jonah expect to die when he was thrown overboard? @JonEricson It seems that, in verse 6, Jonah considered his life spared. From that, it seems that he thought he was a goner but was then spared (while still in the whale's belly). Personally, if I was in the whale's belly, I would presume that I was about to die slowly. Jonah doesn't seem to think that way, though. |

Does the NT concept of grace exist in the OT? Could you give examples of New Testament grace? As it is, this seems to be a broad question that would require examining all New Testament and Old Testament passages. |

What does the prohibition against women speaking in church in 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 mean? @vasquez If you disagree with the answer, please post your own interpretation. From my interpretation, the passage is crystal clear. |

Is “wait” in Isaiah 40:31 active or passive? @BobJones Sometimes your exegesis really confuses me. Either you're skipping over some information or there are some basic concepts that I just don't get. |

How can we determine if a text is sarcastic? Also, is it safe to presume that Item 2 there is a sensus plenior interpretation of that passage? |

How can we determine if a text is sarcastic? I think that if Paul had said these things in the order that you presented them, it might make your case much stronger. However, Jumping from 1 Cor. to Gal. back to 1 Cor. to 1 Timothy... it seems that this narration isn't quite in order. Do you have any external sources that support this understanding? |

What is the meaning of “calculate” in Revelation 13:18? Probably not with a calculator, given they didn't exist when the book was written... |

Is the person who “denied the faith” in 1 Timothy 5:8 still a believer? Good points. It seems like I once heard that the early church (pre-1-Timothy letter) were having trouble because they thought that Jesus was saying that we should ignore our parents. (Matt 10:37 and Matt 12:48-50, for examples) |

What did Paul mean when he said, “work out your own salvation?” Oh, I think it's fine as it is. I just wanted to make sure you knew about that. :) |

What did Paul mean when he said, “work out your own salvation?” I feel that I should warn you that the best answers you will get around here will only partially answer the question, as it is currently worded (which is wide open). Since this is not a site about doctrine or application of the passage, you won't find answers explaining how we should apply this passage--only answers on potential intentions of Paul and probably the translation of the passage. If you are curious how we should apply this to our lives, you need to ask on Christianity.SE. |

Did Jesus have the legal authority to cleanse the temple? I believe that the vote to close this question has received is based on the fact that this is a question regarding historical Jewish and Roman laws, rather than hermeneutics or exegesis of biblical texts. A meta post exists dealing with this subject, but has not really gathered much support that these are off-topic or on-topic. |
