I'm a hobbyist programmer, part-time sysadmin, and full-time data center automation consulting engineer.

I have experience with myriad editors, shells, and OSes. And, while I'm an ardent emacs user, am pretty much beyond the religious wars of "what's best" when it comes to platform, editor, or toolset: if it works for the problem at hand, and you know it, it's [probably] worthwhile :)

comment Why is the man going to measure Jerusalem in Zechariah 2:2?
it may be a parallel to Rev 21:16

comment Are the rings for carrying the incense altar pure gold?
@swasheck - a gold abr at the bottom of the stack in Ft Knox isn't appreciably different in shape from one at the top - and each one is 30lbs, give or take

comment Why did Stephen give such a long speech?
one minor point - Moses didn't die before the Promised Land because the people opposed him, he died for striking the rock when God told him to talk to it

comment Is Leviticus 12 saying that giving birth to a child is a sin?
do not forget the issue of the blood being the reason for ceremonial uncleanness, which also required a sin offering to be made: there is blood issued when giving birth, too

comment Can Enoch's hermeneutical approach be determined?
these types of questions seem to presuppose that there was no more revelation available to the early saints than is recorded in Genesis. If the words of John are correct in describing Jesus' ministry that if everything were to be written even the world could not contain the books, then why would we presume the available revelation of God in the early days of the earth was limited to only that which was recorded for our good?

comment How many wives does Deuteronomy allow a king to have?
of course, David's many wives led to other problems - Absalom's uprising, the rape of his daughter, etc

comment Is Ecclesiastes a book of negative wisdom?
@Ron Maimon - since the author was Solomon, it cannot be a "Jewish response to Greek philosophy". Solomon was alive in the 900s BC, and Plato didn't come around until 500 years after his death

comment Does Exodus 22:28 call for child sacrifice?
child sacrifice is explicitly forbidden to the Hebrews - however, using the same word in differing contexts with different thrusts is quite common

comment Does a leper have yellow hair or black hair?
how is this "obviously just a typo.."? Without backing-up this statement, the answer is, at best, a comment.

comment Did Noah take two doves, or fourteen?
or, of course, the sacrificial animals had offspring on the Ark
