comment How is this passage on the authority of women to be interpreted?
@bruisedreed, I'm glad for you that you think you understand all that is in scripture. I'll just have to keep striving to reach that level of understanding.

comment How is this passage on the authority of women to be interpreted?
@bruisedreed, no, it's not my hermeneutic that leaves parts of scripture unclear, it's because parts of scripture are unclear. And God says specifically that some things are that way. Most of us are finite and so we study the Bible and pray to God to show us what is unclear. Some things we figure out, some things we don't.

@bruisedreed, don't interpret my comment, read it. I never ignore scripture, I just obey what is clear and ask God to reveal to me what needs to be cleared up.

comment How is this passage on the authority of women to be interpreted?
@bruisedreed, I wouldn't interpret that socio-culturally. The Bible doesn't specifically tell us what the "holy kiss" is: on the hand, on the cheek, on the lips or something else, so I hang on the "greet the brethren" part. I certainly wouldn't want to guess and get it wrong.

comment What does “meek” mean in Matthew 5:5?
@JonEricson, actually it doesn't have to do with gentleness, it's more about submission to the will of god, yielding to his will instead of your own. I'll try to come up with a good answer.

In heaven, we don't have to worry about immodest behavior; different story on this earth.

comment “dancing” or “beat time with his feet” in 2 Samuel 6:14?
Actually, v. 20 shows that she despised him for his immodesty. She didn't attack his joy, she attacked his immoral display. She may be been right on the issue, but it shows us that God is looking at more than just the visible manifestations, and that there are times to not get too caught up over the sin of others.

comment “dancing” or “beat time with his feet” in 2 Samuel 6:14?
@DJClayworth, no, the difference is in just keeping time and leading a praise music worship service (like clapping hands), and doing the great watusi or just grinding (like most dancing).
