Isaiah, Book of

The Book of Isaiah is a book of prophecy attributed to Isaiah ben Amoz, a pre-exilic prophet. Many today believe that while the book likely contains prophecies from the original prophet, it was not written in its entirety by him and that particularly chapters 40-66 were written during a later period or periods.

Isaiah is the first book of the Latter Prophets in the Hebrew Bible, which followed by Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and the Book of Twelve. Isaiah's prophecies span from before the exile, beginning with the death of Uzziah, stretching to the conquest, the exile, and the promise of a new exodus.
