In HELL: ETERNAL TORMENT OR ANNIHILATION? (Samuele Bacchiocchi, Ph. D., Andrews University), the author presents compelling evidence for the theory that at death the unbeliever is sentenced not to eternal torment, but to everlasting destruction, or annihilation. I am interested in hearing both sides of this debate and why, from an exegetical analysis of the appropriate Bible verses, Annihilationalism may or may not be a valid belief.

This is rather a huge topic. I wrote a 30-page paper on this in seminary. I'd be happy to send it to you and summarize here, but the summary would be just that-a summary. Perhaps if you selected a few of the verses he uses in support of his conclusion, we could address it more specifically. – Frank Luke Jan 28 at 22:45
Frank, I would appreciate if you would send your summary. Also, I am editing my question now to make it clearer, per your request. ~t – Thomas Kemper Jan 28 at 23:45

This question seems to come from a doctrine rather than any particular passage in the Bible. I'm going to close the question while you are working on it, but I'd be happy to reopen when you are done. – Jon Ericson Jan 29 at 0:02
I'd be glad to send it. Can you send me your email address? I can't see it in your profile. If you prefer, send your address to fluke030@yahoo.com. I interacted mostly with Stott and Fudge, but the arguments each made were similar. – Frank Luke Jan 29 at 2:33
my address is on its way. – Thomas Kemper Jan 29 at 3:20
